What about (a) Bob?

in the movie, "what about bob", the main character bob learns how to overcome his anxieties by taking 'baby steps' at a time. i couldn't resist connecting the movie with the hair length featured today. if you can't take the pixie plunge, then baby step to a beautiful bob!

these three styles are shown just to get your mind mulling over the possibilities! you could try a wispy, textured cut like kiera. this look is great for a laid back style;  it's down to earth and forgiving (for those who don't care to style much). just add a little salt spray and air dry, or slightly curl with a curling iron while leaving the ends out for an unfinished look.

the second style is great for those who do not like/want bangs or heavy face framing. it is slightly layered, but is mostly an even length for thickness and volume.

the last style is simple and sweet, as kirsten wears it. it's good for naturally straight hair types, and some slight bangs. this look also adds definition to your jawline and cheek bones. very cute! just straighten and add a shine serum to smooth it all out.

this bob stood out to me because it's a very classic style that's great for on-the-go, or sleek and sexy. the heavy bang-like layers can be pushed back for volume, or styled across the face as a nice bang look. i also love the little front pieces that add some length and definition. the volume is perfect and the layering is fantastic!
(note: this haircut does take the back shorter than the others. this creates the full look at the back of the head.)

posh spice (as i grew up knowing her) brought this dramatic style in fashion a few years back. this a-line cut has become popular since she sported it in a variety of lengths and colors. this style can be adapted to different lengths and hair types. it most dramatically adds shape to your jawline, cheek bones and face shape. in her particular cut, the back was taken short with longer pieces from the top used pile up and create volume. this look was a big hit for a reason!

lastly, i loved this style because it can be used with a side part, or a middle part. (if you can pull off the middle part, i tip my hat to you. i wish i could!) this look is longer and is mostly layered around
the bottom. it 's easy to style with a straightener and can be adapted to wear with or without bangs. love it!

if you're thinking about going shorter, take the baby step and try out one of these styles! my latest, obsessed-with bob is worn by julianne hough, as seen here.

best of luck!
