the short end of...

let's start out this week with a nice pixie cut. we'll go from short to long!

the pixie cut is daring, sexy and a dangerous move. pixies can either make or break a person (in my honest opinion). they can also look very sexy!

here are some tips about pixie cuts:
  • consider a pixie if you have a strong face. there are many girls out there that can hold their own when it comes to a short look.
  • be sure to have some long pieces in the front and by the ears for a more feminine look. Anne's hair is a great example of a very short feminine look. i wouldn't recommend going much shorter! :)
  • this haircut works really well with smooth hair and minimum frizz. in order to have a sleek look, straighten and then add some light pomade or wax to smooth it out or rock it up!
the main pro of a pixie cut is the styling time. it's very easy to dry and style- but will usually require product. i recommend a nice wax, pomade or mousse to give it some volume and flair!

ginnifer's look is wonderful! her length allows her to wear a variety of styles. by adding longer "bang" like pieces in the front, she can wear it smoothed over, pieced out or rocked up for different moods. i love these three looks on her! (though i think she looks amazing as the long-haired, kick-butt Snow White too!!)

if you're thinking about this style, here are some things to remember before you cut:
  1. decide how long you want the front pieces. will you wear them like bangs? do you want them thin or thick? would you like it cut straight across or angled? answering these questions can make a huge difference in the outcome of your cut.
  2. don't forget the "sideburns"! leave some long pieces around the ears to give it a nice girly style.
  3. how short do you want the back? some leave it longer towards the crown in order to pull those pieces forward for a nice look (ex: ginnifer far right picture). others like the neckline nice and trimmed, or longer and wispy.
  4. how often will you get it cut? this length will appear to grow out faster because it's shorter, so  consider taking it a little shorter than usual if you don't like visiting the salon often.
  5. take a picture- or several! this will make it easier to describe what you hope for and make it easier for the stylist to understand. we're not mind readers! :)
best of luck with your short and sassy look!
