the short end of...

let's start out this week with a nice pixie cut. we'll go from short to long!

the pixie cut is daring, sexy and a dangerous move. pixies can either make or break a person (in my honest opinion). they can also look very sexy!

here are some tips about pixie cuts:
  • consider a pixie if you have a strong face. there are many girls out there that can hold their own when it comes to a short look.
  • be sure to have some long pieces in the front and by the ears for a more feminine look. Anne's hair is a great example of a very short feminine look. i wouldn't recommend going much shorter! :)
  • this haircut works really well with smooth hair and minimum frizz. in order to have a sleek look, straighten and then add some light pomade or wax to smooth it out or rock it up!
the main pro of a pixie cut is the styling time. it's very easy to dry and style- but will usually require product. i recommend a nice wax, pomade or mousse to give it some volume and flair!

ginnifer's look is wonderful! her length allows her to wear a variety of styles. by adding longer "bang" like pieces in the front, she can wear it smoothed over, pieced out or rocked up for different moods. i love these three looks on her! (though i think she looks amazing as the long-haired, kick-butt Snow White too!!)

if you're thinking about this style, here are some things to remember before you cut:
  1. decide how long you want the front pieces. will you wear them like bangs? do you want them thin or thick? would you like it cut straight across or angled? answering these questions can make a huge difference in the outcome of your cut.
  2. don't forget the "sideburns"! leave some long pieces around the ears to give it a nice girly style.
  3. how short do you want the back? some leave it longer towards the crown in order to pull those pieces forward for a nice look (ex: ginnifer far right picture). others like the neckline nice and trimmed, or longer and wispy.
  4. how often will you get it cut? this length will appear to grow out faster because it's shorter, so  consider taking it a little shorter than usual if you don't like visiting the salon often.
  5. take a picture- or several! this will make it easier to describe what you hope for and make it easier for the stylist to understand. we're not mind readers! :)
best of luck with your short and sassy look!

got some dry locks??

this summer, i have had my fair share of dry hair days. i switched shampoos which only made it worse. so them comes the dreaded question..."do i cut it all off?" no way! i've been growing out these locks for a while. so let's try something else...

luckily i came across this conditioner. it didn't "heal" my hair, but it helps it feel a whole lot better. i love to apply it after shampooing, comb it through my hair and put it up while i finish the usual shower routine. it always helps to rinse it out with cold water, which seals the moisture in the hair cuticle. i like the way my hair feels after, and it smells good too!

so if you decide to give your dry strands some love, let me know! i wanna know what you think!

we want moore!

i have ALWAYS loved mandy moore. she is beautiful, sweet and makes some great movies! but another thing i love about her is her variety of hairstyles and colors. from a young blonde to a dark brunette, long or short, she is always lookin' gorgeous.

looking at all of these styles, it reminds me to switch things up! i often get stuck in a style that 'looks good' and not knowing if something else would look better. so get some inspiration!  try something new! you never know... it could be your best look yet!

need a summer look?

this summer has been so hot!! being new to the california heat i have had my fair share of 'messy hair days'. so, why not make them 'classy messy' hair days? inspired by a very fun messy braid worn by blake lively, this braid is easy and fun to do!

the trick to this...there is no trick! make several braids, either fishtail, french or regular and just see how the hair flows as you go. add a fun headband to add some flavor!

i will have to sport this look during this heat and have some fun with the messy, hippy style. i would love to have beautiful brown eyes and a gorgeous hair color like my model too!

be sure to enter the giveaway! only a few days left!

crew for a guy's do'

one of my favorite places to work was  in an upscale men's barbershop. we gave head massages, great cuts and even had warm, scented face towels to top it off. i learned so much about men's hair styling and i'd love to share my big secret with you...

this product is the BEST men's styling product i have ever found. i could go on and on about it, but for now i'll keep it short.(pun intended!) when it comes to hair, most guys like to keep styling short and sweet. this product is so easy to shape, mold and form for any hair type. it takes only a few moments to put in and lasts all day. plus it doesn't leave hair stiff, or greasy.

if you have a man in your life with great hair, or not so great hair, get this American Crew Forming Cream. i guarantee amazing results!
